Named Haku, the Japanese word for white, this katakuchi chawan reflects the quiet clarity of its glaze. The simple white surface lets the form of the bowl—and the vibrant green of matcha—take center stage.

 Designed for serving more than one bowl, the subtle spout allows matcha to pour cleanly into smaller cups, minimizing waste and mess. The wide interior supports smooth whisking, while the refined white glaze highlights the beauty of freshly prepared tea. It can also be used as a yuzamashi to cool hot water when brewing Japanese green 

About the Artist

Rito Aoshima is a second-generation potter preserving the 900-year Shitoro-Yaki tradition in Shizuoka, creating elegant teaware fired in a traditional multi-chamber noborigama kiln.
